Bury St Edmunds – Man arrested after two people assaulted |
||
|
A man has been arrested in connection with an incident where two people were assaulted in Bury St Edmunds earlier this month.
Officers were called by the Ambulance Service at 1am on Friday 6 March, to reports that a man aged in his 50s had sustained injuries in a suspected assault.
Following initial police enquiries, the incident was found to have occurred at some time between 11pm on Thursday 5 March and 1am on Friday 6 March, in an area adjacent to Parkway opposite the Fire Station.
The man sustained cuts to his head and injuries to his arm and ribs and was taken to hospital for treatment but was discharged later the same day.
A woman was also assaulted during the incident, sustaining minor injuries.
The male victim is believed to have been assaulted with some type of tool or implement with a sharp edge – possibly a claw hammer.
Last week, officers investigating this incident arrested an 18-year-old man from the Sudbury area on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and subsequently released on bail until Wednesday 22 April pending further enquiries.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone who was driving in Parkway or nearby roads between 11pm on 5 March and 1am on 6 March with a dashcam in their vehicle, to check the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact West CID at Bury St Edmunds Police Station, quoting reference: 37/12976/26.
